Aptly named “American Chinoise,” Ward Kelvin’s fine jewelry collection doesn’t fall far from the tree. Raised in Great Neck, N Y, in
a house one can only describe as High Style 70’s Chinoise Chic, Ward
found his inspiration. His father, an artist and illustrator designed and
crafted the furniture and much of the inspired interior.

Taking further inspirational nods from 1930’s Hollywood Regency
houses with lattice motifed interiors, and occasional swinging monkey,
Ward launched his signature collection at Bergdorf Goodman. The
jewels feature hand sculpted 18k gold bamboo stems that weave under
and over to create organically composed nests for precious and semi
precious gems. Ward strives to create pieces that look as though they
were effortlessly crafted by the most discerning and cleverest of birds.
A noble mission.

Having studied industrial design at Pratt Institute and academic
figurative painting and drawing at The Art Students League in New
York City, Ward first pursued a career as a toy designer, developing
everything from cookie jars to transformer toys for companies such as
Walt Disney, Warner Bros. and Hanna Barbera. This proved an oddly
perfect foundation as Ward’s career segued into the world of luxury
design. Toys to cocktail rings was a natural transition.

As a designer for Tiffany & Co. Ward honed his talents conceptualizing
and designing fine jewelry and statement table top collections.
From Tiffany he went on to design and consult for other venerable
companies including Estee Lauder, David Yurman, Ralph Lauren and
Steuben Glass.

“It’s about instinct, ingenuity, and a passion to create that intangible
thing....beautifully realized objects of desire, and if they can be worn on
the neck, hand or wrist....even better! ” comments Ward.

Residing and working in the “quiet” Far West Village neighborhood of
Manhattan, Ward continues to let loose those birds of his imagination.
